The Rim of the World shred team, formerly known as the ski/snowboard team, competed March 7 to 12 in state finals held in Mammoth. There were 47 high schools from across the state competing in both skiing and snowboarding.

Subaru announced they will return to the WRC as early as 2010. Company bosses are said to be very ecstatic about the latest ideas for the future of WRC. The new S2000 rules are cheap, if not inexpensive and we will have rule stability with this move for at least one and a half years. For Subaru it also is an excellent change to position the brand all new in the difficult economic times.

On a recent night while I was biking home through UCSB, I saw a now-rare yet familiar sight: Skateboarders trying to “ollie†off the Geology Department stairs by the bike path along Broida Hall. That brought back a flood of memories of Isla Vista’s skateboarding past. It was skateboarding that brought me to this little seaside enclave back in 1985, again in 1986, and it eventually caused me to move up here in 1987.
