On Saturday morning July 11, at 8:52am sharp, between the Island White and Island Grissom in the Long Beach Harbor, the 61st Annual Catalina Water Ski Race roars into battle with 16 different divisions of competitors racing from Long Beach to Catalina Island and back.

Among the participants will be Long Beach resident Ryan Choura, CEO of the Long Beach based Choura Venue Services, who will be defending his standing 2004 record for the Formula II Outboard record of 1:01:25.86. Choura will be competing with his original team from 2004 of driver Glenn Anderson, and participating as observer his father and Choura Venue Services board president Jim Choura.

Chrysler released a statement just minutes ago confirming that it will no longer seek to sell the Dodge Viper SRT10 lineup. The automaker had been quietly shopping the iconic V10-powered sports car line but had not found a serious buyer.

As part of its turnaround plan, General Motors Corp. said Friday it plans to experiment with auctioning new cars on eBay, expanding on an existing partnership covering certified used vehicles on the online marketplace.

GM CEO Fritz Henderson said the company is working on an “innovative new partnership” with eBay Inc. to let consumers in California bid on vehicles as they would in a normal eBay auction, or choose a “Buy it Now” option to purchase the car at a set price. The Roxy ASP Women’s World Longboard Championships (WWLC) will start tomorrow Saturday, July 11, at the famous surf location of La Côte des Basques in Biarritz, the world’s best female longboarders getting their 2009 ASP Women’s World Longboard title quest underdway. The event, which is running its fourth consecutive edition in the Basque town, will get straight into business implementing a new competition format with direct elimination from Round 1.
