Lance Armstrong denied on Tuesday having “misbehaved” during a random drugs test conducted by the French anti-doping authority last month.

The seven times Tour de France champion was requested, while training in France, to provide urine, blood and hair samples to a tester from the French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD).

The AFLD said on Monday the 37-year-old American behaved strangely when the tester asked him to provide the samples and it sent a report to the International Cycling Union (UCI).

The UCI said it could not rule on the matter since the test, which proved to be negative, was commissioned by the AFLD.

Armstrong, who described reports in France on Monday that he had “misbehaved” as outrageous, said he just wanted to have the tester’s ID checked before complying with the request…   Details

At 04:05:30 GMT on Friday 3rd April, 45 year-old, Belgian solo sailor, Michel Kleinjans crossed the finish line of the Portimão Global Ocean Race Leg 3 on his 12 year-old Open 40, Roaring Forty, after 41 days, 02 hours, 50 minutes and 30 seconds and 7,500 miles of racing from Wellington, New Zealand.

To the amazement of the double-handed entries, Kleinjans remained in touch with the Class 40 fleet throughout the Southern Ocean, even taking the overall lead of the fleet on Day 6 of racing and only losing ground in the descent from the Pacific Ocean Ice Gate at 45°S to Cape Horn at 56°S.

Russian Yury Trofimov won stage two of the Tour of the Basque Country after a 130 km breakaway on Tuesday.

The Bbox-Bouyges Telecom rider shed his last breakaway companion, Estonian Rein Taaramae, 2.5 km from the line for his first win of the season. British rider Ben Swift was third.

“I didn’t want to try to win this in a sprint against another rider because I’m not good at it,” said Trofimov.

“We’d worked together with two other riders in a break for most of the day. Finally, I dropped Taaramae on a climb before the finish and then again close to the line.”  …  Details
