Besides the usual motivations to visit Costa Rica—over a quarter of the country is protected in national parks, there are monkeys in the trees, iguanas underfoot, and good surfing waves on both coasts—there are two more reasons you should go right now.

1. The Billabong ISA World Surfing Games are in Costa Rica this year. They start this weekend, running from August 1st through the 8th. The games are in Playa Hermosa, just south of the resort town of Jacó, a two-hour drive from Costa Rica’s international airport in San José…  Details

It seems like a long time ago that Wabasso native Jon Guetter shocked the ATV world by performing the first ever quad backflip.

Stoked News is leaving for a few days of surfing in Southern Calif.  in a couple of hours.  The plan is to stay in Malibu and be in the water by late afternoon today.  They say that timing is everything in life.

What do I find to post this morning is this video of a great white shark in the 10-12 foot range right off Malibu, swimming about 1/4 off the beach.  Nothing new, we have lots of great whites off the San Francisco area every day of the year.  It does make you stop and think when siting in the lineup with your legs hanging down.
