It’s no secret that kiteboarding is a male-dominated sport. Data suggests that as many as 90% of the kiteboarders in the US are men. We sat down with a group of female kiteboarders and talked about the status of women within kiteboarding and what can be done to bring more women into the sport.
After the most intense period in the 2013 season with three World Series competitions within four weeks’ time, it was time for the winner of the halfway stop in Italy, David Colturi, and his best mate Steven LoBue (both USA) to enjoy a few relaxed days at home. A look at the current overall rankings underlines how close the competition is this season — three different winners in four competitions, a rookie on fifth and still one scratch result to come. Returning to Boston also means to be hosted in a city in which sports plays a major role — something that was pretty obvious in the past two editions of the World Series.
Nike SB took us around the world to host Damn Am China where we got see some amazing skating from the local talent at the City Jam Am and Pro Finals. We also had some free time to skate through one of the most amazing city’s for skateboarding, Shanghai, China, where the crew got in some lines and got down on some amazing street spots.
