Lance Armstrong’s team manager is confident a broken collarbone won’t prevent the cycling great from riding in the Giro d’Italia or Tour de France.

“I don’t think this changes anything for the Tour de France,” Astana team manager Johan Bruyneel said Tuesday. “A broken collarbone in the month of March does not at all compromise the start of the Tour de France or your performance in the Tour de France.”

Wearing a helmet while skiing or snowboarding can reduce the risk of a head injury by 60 per cent. But not all helmets are created equal, says the Canadian Standards Association, which is introducing certification testing under a new standard.

The CSA developed a new standard for alpine skiing and snowboarding helmets last June and will begin providing testing for certification of the protective head gear next month, said John Walter, vice-president of standards for the non-profit organization.

Monster Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking has been suspended indefinitely following his second-place finish in the Daytona SportBike race at Auto Club Speedway for what the AMA calls “conduct detrimental to the sport of professional motorcycle racing” – though paying a $4000 fine and issuing a public apology to AMA Pro Racing could bring the suspension down to just one race, according to the AMA press release.
