With an amazing win at the 2009 U.S. Open pipe finals and a previous first place at the ‘09 X-games, Torah Bright confirmed that she is the one to watch (if you didn’t know) in the Superpipe for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) added another victory to her already record-breaking ski season by taking the third U.S. slalom skiing title of her career Sunday at the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships in Alaska. After two rounds of racing yesterday, Alex Caizergues (FRA, F-One) and Melissa Gil (USA, Cabrinha) have taken the lead in this years speed world championship, held in Port St. Louis, France.

In total, 35 competitors registered for the first event of the season, and although the weather forecast is not brilliant for the upcoming days, there is hope for the weekend to bring more wind to allow for more racing.

Seven Pacific Islands groups are banding together to preserve and develop their traditions of ocean voyaging by double-hulled canoe.

The joint effort follows an agreement in Auckland last month to form the group Pacific Voyagers, a pan-Pacific network of voyaging societies.

The Pacific Voyagers includes members from American Samoa, the Cook Islands, Fiji, New Zealand, Tahiti, Tonga and Samoa.

The parties within the network have agreed to construct canoe hulls and operating infrastructure with designs based on traditional concepts… Details
