Lowe’s Motor Speedway will honor Autism Awareness Month by contributing $10 from every ticket sold to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600 from April 3-11 to Autism Speaks.

“Autism affects millions of families around the world, including many of our great fans,” said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Lowe’s Motor Speedway. “We’ve worked with local non-profit groups that help children with autism and their families through Speedway Children’s Charities. Now we’ve decided to significantly expand those efforts to help Autism Speaks increase awareness of the disorder and raise funds to help find a cure.”

The waves were on and off today like the weather-hot and sunny one minute and cold and rainy the next! There were plenty of barrels to pull in to- but not everyone made it out.

Drag racing humor, facts of life (for some people)

It’s one of those things that’s been around the ‘Web so many times, that it’s hard to find attribution for it. (If this is your composition, please let me know!)

Anyway, here it is…something that you can print out, read aloud and laugh over…  Details

Last week it was Smokin’ the Sound that roared through the waters of the Mississippi Sound to the north of Deer Island in Biloxi.

This week, it’s Smokin’ the Lake off The Dock Bar and Grill in the Gulfport Lake.

Smokin’ the Sound featured massive 45-to-50 foot boats — equipped with twin outboards — reaching speeds of 170 mph around a 9-mile track that drew thousands of race fans all along Casino Row.

Smokin’ the Lake, however, will introduce a new style of racing.

First of all, there will be no boats running twin engines.

Second, boats will not reach speeds of 170.

And third, there will be no circular track with races that covers 80-to-100 miles.

Instead, single engine boats will race a quarter-mile track that’s similar in style to NHRA drag racing.

Welcome to the world of Deep South Drag Boat racing… Details
