Robbie French, founder of Perfect Day Surf Camp, has an interesting take on the tale of how she arrived at her current home in the industry.  What started as a career in modeling and acting after college, led Robbie to managing popular clubs across the nation, and later to starting her own fashion accessory business, Robbie French Designs.  Little did she know, the knowledge gained through her prior experience in business management would present her with an amazing opportunity to get back in touch with her roots – surfing.

With just two rounds to go in the 2009 AMA Supercross series (also an FIM World Championship) LandM San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart has moved to the top of the standings after scoring the runner-up position last Saturday at the Qwest Field in Seattle . The Floridian recovered from a poor start to run through the field and scoop 22 points for his 13th rostrum appearance so far in the seventeen-race schedule.

Stewart’s night of hard work and decent race-craft on the YZ450F across a sandy and rough track on the west coast was further buoyed by the news that main title rival Chad Reed could only take 7th place – his worst finish of the season – after a first turn tumble. For anyone who’s ever wondered what it’s like to paddle around in a canoe or kayak on the open sea, Oceanside will be the place to be on Saturday, April 25.

The first Oceanside Paddle Fest at the Oceanside Harbor will feature water demonstrations of Hobie Kayaks and Outrigger canoes, a kayak fishing derby with a first place prize of $500, vendor displays including Hobie Surf’s new stand-up paddleboards, seminars and a raffle with proceeds benefiting Hubbs White Sea Bass Research Institute.

The event is being sponsored by the Oceanside Outrigger Club and the Oceanside branch of OEX, a chain of full-service scuba and kayak shops. The Paddlefest is geared toward both the established paddler and the paddle curious.
