For anyone who’s ever wondered what it’s like to paddle around in a canoe or kayak on the open sea, Oceanside will be the place to be on Saturday, April 25.
The first Oceanside Paddle Fest at the Oceanside Harbor will feature water demonstrations of Hobie Kayaks and Outrigger canoes, a kayak fishing derby with a first place prize of $500, vendor displays including Hobie Surf’s new stand-up paddleboards, seminars and a raffle with proceeds benefiting Hubbs White Sea Bass Research Institute.
The event is being sponsored by the Oceanside Outrigger Club and the Oceanside branch of OEX, a chain of full-service scuba and kayak shops. The Paddlefest is geared toward both the established paddler and the paddle curious.
