The Powerboat P1 World Championship makes history this weekend with the first-ever Turkish Grand Prix of the Sea racing on the Bosphorus River in the heart of Istanbul and race fans worldwide will be following the action through Powerboat P1 Radio (www.p1radio.com). The US manufacturers will be represented in the Evolution Class by Fountain which is racing under a Belgian flag, taking on the Italian Cigarette Racing Team and the Outerlimits American and Italian teams—as well as the Buzzi and Metamarine Italian-built boats and the German Searex. In SuperSport, U.S. boat builders Donzi and Nor-Tech will face the Maltese Chaudron and Blu Shaft boats.

As part of the official launch, Zero Motorcycles has opened its new European headquarters in Amsterdam and hired Edwin Belonje, an experienced motorcycle industry executive. He will oversee European operations and manage newly signed Independent Representatives in the UK, Germany, France, Austria, Italy and Spain. As part of the European expansion, Zero has also aligned with three European PR agencies to build localized brand awareness.

Zero Motorcycles began selling into Europe in 2006 and subsequently experienced a rapid growth in demand. Starting immediately, they are offering their full product line in Europe with marketing and sales support. Customers can now contact local representatives for test rides in their area on any of Zero Motorcycles’ high performance products.

“Edwin is a seasoned executive with over ten years of experience at Triumph. As their previous General Manager, he understands the European motorcycle market exceptionally well. We look forward to watching him lead our European expansion,” said John Lloyd, Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Zero Motorcycles.

In their fifth return to represent the American pro drifting circuit, Formula D kicked its season off with the most unexpected results: the underdogs of the game knocking out prior champions before the Top 16 even got underway. This is not to say that any driver is unworthy or incapable of topping the best of the best, but in a series long dominated by the likes of Rhys Millen, Sam Hubinette and Tanner Foust, it’s a much-welcomed breath of fresh air to see drivers like Ryan Tuerck take the top spot on the podium and proves that 2009 is the year where we can expect anything to happen.

Formula D made a few tweaks to their existing program, including …  Details
