Mark Cavendish snatched his first Tour de France green jersey thanks to his stage win in Brignoles on Sunday and made it clear he could thank team adviser Erik Zabel for it.

The Briton won the first mass sprint of this Tour, having had to wait five days last year for the first of his four stage victories.

As a result, in 2008 he was never really in a position to go for the points qualification, finally won by Spain’s Oscar Freire.

“The green jersey is a big goal for any sprinter and it’s beautiful and emotional to wear it,” said Cavendish.

How intense is the Race to the Chase for the Sprint Cup?

Despite nine of the 16 drivers that are in contention for one of the 12 playoff spots being involved in incidents of varying degrees Saturday evening in the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway, only five of those drivers changed positions.

Timmy Weigand to replace injured Nathan Woods on Trophy Team

Women’s Trophy Team, Junior Trophy Team and club team members announced

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce the rosters for the U.S. Women’s Trophy Team, the U.S. Junior Trophy Team and the members of the U.S. club teams that will carry the banner for American off-road racing honor at the 2009 International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in Figueria da Foz, Portugal, Oct. 12-17.

In addition, Timmy Weigand will replace the injured Nathan Woods on the U.S. World Trophy Team, which will contest the World Trophy Team Championship. Woods was injured while competing in Round 6 of the World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS).

SNAV OSG, piloted by Giancarlo Cangiano and Giovanni Carpitella, re affirmed its Powerboat P1 World Championship challenge with an impressive win in today’s first leg of the Italian GP, a perfect return to form for the OSG Racing team after the previous GP ended with engine difficulties.

In flat waters, it was nip and tuck on the first lap with three Italian challengers, SNAV OSG, Cigarette Smash Poker and Metamarine Pignola all battling for the lead. As the race unfolded, the Cigarette of Luca Fendi and Matteo Nicolini began to pull away but SNAV OSG was never out of contention, posting several impressive lap times including the fastest lap of the day at 110.8 mph (unofficial).
