The MX Masters in Austria’s Mehrnbach, just a short distance from KTM’s Mattighofen factory and scheduled to be held on the weekend July 11-12, 2009 will again effectively be the home race for entire Red Bull KTM Factory Racing offroad team.

Max Nagl, regular blitz starter in the MX1 World Championship will be riding his KTM 450 machine while the team’s star duo of GP-winning riders, Marvin Musquin and Rui Goncalves will also be present on the KTM 250s. With international riders of this calibre, the event is guaranteed to have the same high gloss as the regular world championship GPs. Nagl is currently third in the MX1 championship standings while Musquin and Goncalves are first and fourth respectively in the MX2 standings.

Ryan Bavetta’s Rocket Board doesn’t actually use a rocket, but it does look like one. The home-brew prop-powered skateboard carries a 3.7 HP model airplane engine which powers a propellor in a standard house-fan cage. It doesn’t use gasoline or kerosene but proprietary Glow Fuel, a dangerous sounding mix of methanol, nitromethane and oil. The setup is enough to spin the prop at up to 10,000 RPM which, as you can see, can easily shift a person.
