The Western Atlantic Pro Surf Series (WAPSS), the only pro surfing tour that exists on the east coast of the United States, is run by Michael Bloom who is an Association of Surfing (ASP) certified judge and a professional photographer.

For the first time in the tour’s existence it will venture beyond its native shores of the US and run an event in Trinidad and Tobago in partnership with Surfing T&T. RICKY WILLIAMS inspires a lot of awe and amazement, even for a skateboarder. In a sport where the aerial exploits of normal humans can boggle the mind, seeing the 11-year-old Novato resident pull off tricks many adult skaters can’t often leaves onlookers whooping in delight.

“The older kids love to watch Ricky skate,” said Rick Williams, Ricky’s father. “They see this little kid out there, zipping around the park, doing these crazy tricks, and they love it. He’s got a lot of fans.”   …  Details

We have some bad news coming out of Montana today. Our fellow cyclists there just got word, as of May 1st, it will be illegal to ride 150 miles (out of 170) of trail in Montana’s Hyalite-Porcupine-Buffalo Horn Wilderness Study Area (WSA), which includes the amazing Gallatin Crest Trail.

The trail access restriction is the result of a lawsuit against the Forest Service’s management of the WSA. According to an IMBA press release, three groups (The Greater Yellowstone Coalition, Montana Wilderness Association and The Wilderness Society) “…contended that the Forest Service failed to preserve the wilderness character of the study area.”   …  Details
