GRAVEL SWITCH — After 17 years of drag-racing toilets, it looks like the annual Outhouse Blowout at Penn’s Store might be running out of steam.
In previous years, the historic general store’s latrine-based competition attracted an average of 2,500 people — enough to fill the field in front of the store with hundreds of vehicles. Four-time defending NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson already has donated $10,000 to the West Michigan-based Racingawareness.com program.
Johnson could donate $20,000 more to the organization, but that decision will be up to fans.
