The final round of the 2010 British Longboard Championships was held on Saturday 18th September. Contestants were greeted with 1-2ft clean conditions which soon deteriorated to 1-2ft onshore dribble making it difficult for all contestants, especially those weighing over 150 lbs.

The decision was made to run the event all in one day due to concerns regarding Sundays conditions. Cold on-shores from the NW meant that judges had a tough time of it in the bracing wind. The fouth day of Bahia Bodyboarding Show defined the quarter finals of girls and men event. Tomorrow, the champions will be crowned and the last day promises great heats.

The highlight of today was the battle between Luis Villar and Israel Salas, both from Brazil. In a great heat Luis Villar won the dispute with a 8,50 and 7,17. “I started the heat with a good wave but Israel got a 8,5. I wait the best one and got a huge session to score my best wave. The windsurfing teams from The Army, the Royal Navy and the RAF have completed the challenge they set out to achieve by windsurfing round the Isle of Wight. A combination of relay teams and solo windsurfers took up the challenge, in all 20 services personnel.

Starting at 0830 on Thursday 16 September it was always going to be a tough day whatever the conditions so a force 4 wind from the West promised to test the fleet’s sailing skills to the limit. The beat to the first stopover at Colwell Bay was, as expected, difficult with the added pressure that the teams knew they had to get round the Needles before the tide turned against them.

Caloundrarising star Eli Steele today captured the 16 and under Boys division of the Sunshine Coast Ocean and Earth Teenage Rampage, qualifying for the international leg of the popular junior surfing series.

Held in fun waves at Coolum Beach (Sunshine Coast, Qld), Steele stylishly attacked the beach break peaks, scoring a combined two-wave heat total of 14.07 (out of a possible 20) including a 7.40 ride (out of a possible 10) in the final to defeat Jake Fissenden (Caloundra, Qld), Nick Callister (Noosaville, Qld) and Jackson Lynch (Coolum, Qld) who finished second to fourth respectively.
