Aileen’s, the perfect wave at the base of the Cliffs of Moher that exploded on to the world’s surfing radar screen in recent years, now has a new rival as Ireland’s most spectacular surf spot and wave. The latest wave, has been dubbed ‘Prowlers’ by the hardy crew of Irish, British and South African surfers who first ventured out on it yesterday. It breaks on an undersea reef about 2km (1.2 miles) off the west coast.

While they are refusing to disclose its exact location, the surfers, including Andrew Cotton, reveal they have been waiting five years for the type of conditions required to surf it. American masters really showed their strength last month when the UCI Masters Track World Championships were held at the Anadia Velodrome in Portugal, October 26-31. With 48 medals, including 19 world titles, the U.S. came out on top of the medal count, beating out the track cycling power house nations of Australia and Great Britain.

The red, white and blue won a whopping seven world titles during the opening day’s time trials. Five silvers and a bronze were also picked up on day one.

Honolulu — Hawaiian surf legend, original Waikiki Beach Boy and Toes on the Nose team member Albert Rabbit Kekai will be celebrating his 90th birthday in Oahu, Hawaii, on November 11th, 2010, surrounded by friends and loved ones.
