Okay, I admit it. I’m a wheelie-holic. I’d practice wheelies on my bicycle, but I’ve been absolutely addicted to them since discovering an engine’s anti-gravity effects on a dirt bike’s front tire when I was 12 and abusing my amazingly durable Suzuki DS80 on the Canadian prairie.

I became fascinated by wheelies – the delicate art of lofting the front wheel and carrying it as far as possible. And I believe most riders are captivated by a long, well-controlled wheelie, no matter if they want to do them or not   …  More

Jeb Corliss  Daredevil Lands ‘Flying Dagger’ Jump Through Mountain Jianglang in China

An American wingsuiter has flown through a narrow fissure in a mountain in eastern China at 100mph.  Jeb Corliss, 37, leapt from a helicopter in a special wingsuit and glided through the crack in Langshan Mountain, in Zhejiang Province, to complete the “flying dagger” jump.  The fissure is only 10ft wide at its narrowest point in a 900ft-tall shard of rock.

He spoke to reporters after crashing down on to a bridge near the mountain’s base.  “This is the greatest thing I’ve ever done up to this point. I am just so, so happy that we were able to do it,” he said.  “I was really worried that it wasn’t going to happen. I was sure it wasn’t going to happen. I’ve no idea. I just didn’t want to disappoint everyone.

“The Chinese have been so nice to me. The Chinese government has been so wonderful. I just didn’t want to disappoint everyone.  “I am really glad I was able to do it, because it was so hard. This was so hard. This was really, really, this was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

Corliss’ other jumps include the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Space Needle in Seattle, the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, and the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia.  In 1999, he hit a waterfall in South Africa when his chute collapsed, leaving him with a broken back.

Ten years later, he broke his leg after hitting a building in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia.  And in 2012, he broke both ankles when he crashed into a bridge during a wingsuit jump in South Africa.
