The fourth annual Gnu Guts and Glory Competition went down last weekend at Canyons. Guts and Glory is a one-of-a-kind competition held in the all-natural Elwoods zone at Canyons Resort. Every feature in Elwoods is hand built by the park crew, and this year they definitely stepped up the set up in there! Alex Donnachie, a humble Scottish lad is currently enrolled in college out in Israel. Rich Forne also lives in Tel Aviv and they filmed this edit together while out there. Donnachie just keeps getting better and better, this edit is a little less flat ledge oriented and features a ton of huge grind to drop set ups. But some of the flat ledge tricks he does are just unreal. I can’t say enough about how good Alex is at riding.

The drive from Santa Cruz to Lincoln City, Ore. — home to Nelscott Reef and the Dive N’ Surf Oregon Pro big wave surfing contest — takes between 12-16 hours.
Savannah Shaughnessy did it in 12 by driving straight through the night, and on Wednesday she plans to make every hour of that trip count. She’ll start with surfing the cold-water break’s 25- to 30-foot faces in the morning and then judging others as they compete in the Big Wave World Tour event all afternoon.
