Alek Oestreng is hyper-critical of his own riding and ultra-selective of the tricks that end up in his video parts. A subtle hand movement most wouldn’t notice is enough for Alek to scrap a clip. Anything that might come off as a gimmick isn’t going to make the cut either. Already been done? Definitely not going in.
He’s a snowboard nerd in the way that Scott Stevens is; he studies others’ riding and puts his own take on what inspires him. Not surprisingly, there are similarities in their snowboarding. While filming for Arcadia, the inventive Norwegian style master logged plenty of hammers that ended up on the cutting room floor, and these are them—almost four minutes of raw footage, riding and lifestyle, deemed unworthy by Alek himelf.
