As the wind line finally reached the shore at Valdevaqueros, the Kite-Surf World Tour strapless freestyle riders put on a late afternoon show on Thursday at the Jeep Tarifa Pro. Although the winds were light at around 15 – 18 knots and dropped for the last couple of rounds, the competition has reached the last 16, so riders can already take points away. There are however still three days to go and the Tarifan crowd are keen for more action as this is the original home of strapless freestyle competition!
It’s official: Porsche’s mad prototype has gone around the Nordschleife quicker than anything.
Last year, I wrote a story about Stefan Bellof’s 6:11.13 Nürburgring lap time set back in 1983 in a Porsche 956. I said it was a record that would remain unchallenged unless Porsche took its 919 LMP1 car to the ‘Ring. That’s exactly what it’s done. Running a 5:19.55 around the famous Nordschleife, the Porsche 919 Evo driven by Timo Bernhard just obliterated the all-time record.
That’s 51.58 seconds faster than Bellof’s time, which is almost hard to believe … More
