outboardWinds of 40 knots off Gulf Harbour caused racing to be postponed for a day, but it was worth the wait for Round 8, the final round of the Rayglass NZ Offshore Powerboat Championships series.

Conditions were superb on Sunday and the choppy conditions didnt detract from the sheer excitement of winning their first championship titles for Tony Coleman and Chris Handley in Cure Kids and Greg Brinck and Eldon Archer in Konica Minolta in the final round of the 2009 Rayglass New Zealand Offshore Powerboat Championship.

The seasons final race was delayed by one day due to high winds on the scheduled Saturday, so competitors were delighted to wake up on Sunday to bright sunshine and significantly less wind…  Details, Results & Pictures 

The area’s newest attraction — Wake Nation Cincinnati, the innovative cable watersports’ park — opens 10 a.m. Sunday in Fairfield’s Joyce Park.

At Wake Nation riders can water ski, wakeboard and wakeskate by being pulled across a smooth, 10-acre lake NOT by a motor boat, but by an overhead cable-pulley system.

Wake Nation Cincinnati is the only cable watersports park in the Midwest, the next closest one being more than 600 miles away, in Kansas City. There are only six other cable waterparks in the entire U.S., most of them in Florida and Texas…  Details

Some of Donny Robinson’s fondest childhood memories are of riding his bike and playing with friends on the softball field next to the Bakersfield Metro BMX track just off Chester Avenue.
