FIA president Max Mosley says that race fix claims surrounding Renault are being viewed by the governing body as more serious than outright cheating, after revealing on Friday that Nelson Piquet has been granted immunity.

Renault has been called to appear before the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council on September 21 to answer charges that it deliberately told Piquet to crash in last year’s Singapore Grand Prix to help Fernando Alonso win the race.

Patience, persistence and a wickedly powerful Victory Freedom engine helped Gregor Moe set a new national speed run record of 165.8 mph on a Victory Motorcycle September 3 at the BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Moe ran a timed mile at 166.004 mph on the Victory Kingpin, then backed it up with a run at 165.6 mph, giving him the average of 165.8 mph that goes into the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) record books for the 2000-M-AG class. The class includes bikes of up to 2000cc with modified frames that are gas-powered but do not use turbochargers or superchargers. The previous class record of 163 mph had stood since 1973.

Paralyzed Surfers Charge Waves at Life Rolls On Foundation’s They Will Surf Again-La Jolla

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 September, 2009 : – – Life Rolls On Foundation will present its West Coast season finale of They Will Surf Again at La Jolla Shores Playa del Oro on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 9 a.m.  They Will Surf Again (TWSA) is an award-winning, quality of life program produced by Life Rolls On Foundation (LRO), which empowers quadriplegics and paraplegics with the opportunity to surf by using adaptive equipment.  More than 150 volunteers will support nearly 50 adaptive surfers at this event, where they will they push the bounds of possibility despite paralysis.
