Once upon a time, When WCT rookie Matt Wilkerson was even younger (16) he surfed at Bells Beach on the very southern tip of Australia. The waves were absolutely firing. Just so much fun! And young Wilko would have been having an amazing time, save an overly aggressive, older Brazilian who insisted on dropping in. Time and time again. This Brazilian was just frothing. Just catching everything that moved. And frothing. How frustrating!
After some time, Wilko exited the water and made his way toward his father who had been sitting on the beach. The Brazilian had exited the water too and was close behind. Mr. Wilko asked, “Did you have fun out there?” And Wilko responded, “I would have if this guy hadn’t kept dropping in on me.” As he spoke he motioned over his shoulder to the frothing, aggressive, muscle-bound, frothing older Brazilian.
