MotoGP brings the big bikes to California again this week for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, at historic Laguna Seca. Moto2 and the 125s are staying home for this round, not wanting to mix it up with the Harleys and such that populate the track on Grand Prix weekend. As a resident of Indiana, I don’t understand why our race in August is called the Indianapolis Grand Prix. If it were up to me, this week’s race would be called the Great California Crashout, while Indy would host the U.S. Grand Prix.

San Clemente’s Drew Brophy spent 16 days and 225 miles risking ‘crazy’ rapids, boulders, heat and cold while stand-up paddleboarding with a friend and an accompanying rafting team.

He considers himself just a regular guy on a surfboard – a guy who loves adventure and has challenged himself to surf fearsome venues such as Tahiti’s Teahupoo Reef and Mexico’s Puerto Escondido, just for the thrill.

Techno Windsurfing World Championships 2011 update from USA National Windsurfing Champion Steve Bodner:

It’s been a while since I really got involved in helping out with an event but it only seemed right given the scale and importance of the Techno 293 World Championships being held in San Francisco from July 19 to 24 at the St. Francis Yacht Club. It’s been 20 years since the last major world windsurfing championship has been held in the US at the St.FYC for the 1991 Mistral World Champs. From the early stages of designing and developing the event, I knew it was going to be big but it didn’t strike how big till I got back to Crissy field last Sunday after a few weeks away and saw almost 100 windsurfers out on the San Francisco Bay getting ready for the event   …  Pictures and more
