Late entry Leipheimer wins 69-mile men’s pro road race

Although the Sea Otter Classic attracts its share of mountain bike world titlists and Olympic medalists, it’s rare when top Tour de France riders compete. But in recent years, Levi Leipheimer has made a habit of unexpectedly registering at the last minute to pedal on the peninsula in mid-April.

Friday was no different as Leipheimer, 35, the third-place finisher in the 2007 Tour de France and three-time Tour of California winner, added to his strong early season by winning the 69-mile men’s pro road race at Laguna Seca Recreation Area…  Details
