West Australian Taj Burrow has joined the exodus of surfing stars out of the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach as the competition prepares to crown a champion on Friday.
Third seed and 2007 winner Burrow was eliminated by Gold Coast surfer Jay Thompson when round two heats resumed on Thursday.
Already nine-time world champ Kelly Slater and Aussie No.2 seed Bede Durbidge have been bounced out of the early rounds.
It leaves fourth seed and current tour points leader Joel Parkinson as the highest ranked surfer left in the competition, which is expected to be completed on Friday with the quarter-finals, semis and final…Â DetailsÂ
