Riley Hurd, a 36-year-old San Rafael attorney, doesn’t enter paddle board races to win. “My goal is to finish,” he said with a smile before paddling off on Saturday in the first Icebreaker Stand Up Paddle Race at San Rafael’s McNears Beach Park.
On a chilly but bright and clear morning, Hurd finished the 2 ½-mile course from McNears to Rat Island off China Camp and back in a respectable 35 minutes. He couldn’t help but win this time … Video and more
