SACRAMENTO – No pads? No problem. As long as you’re wearing a helmet.
That’s the goal of Assemblywoman Lori Saldana, D-San Diego, who has introduced legislation to allow thrashers access to public skateboard parks even if they don’t have elbow and knee pads.
Turning away those who don’t don the safety equipmentment will just encourage rogue riding in the streets, risking more serious injuries, is Saldana’s point.
The measure, Assembly Bill 874, has a fan in Mark Takahashi, a San Diego attorney well-known in the area for his efforts on behalf of riders.
