The ICF Freestyle World Championships Monday through Sept. 8 will bring hundreds of the globe’s top paddlers and thousands of daily spectators to the snug and stunning Nantahala River Gorge.
Though it is a world-class sporting event, the championships will have a Western North Carolina twist, said Charles Conner, marketing director for the Nantahala Outdoor Center, which is hosting the event.
