Cycling Road – Sanchez takes 1st stage of Basque Country race

Luis Leon Sanchez of Spain has won the first stage of the Tour of Basque Country cycling race.

The Caisse D’Epargne rider edged Olympic champion Samuel Sanchez of Spain on Monday in a sprint finish to take the 89-mile leg in 3 hours, 28 minutes, 43 seconds.

Sanchez burst through the middle of the peloton to cross the line first by a wheel, and credited his teammates for putting him in position…  Details
