Skijorers, or skiers pulled by animal or machine, carved through a river by horse in Kiev on Friday. The skiers braved winter temperatures and fell in the icy river several times during their ride.
Skiers race using a wide waistband which is clipped around the waist and then pulled by a dog, a motor vehicle or in this case – a horse. But instead of riding on snow, these Ukranians are being pulled on a wakeboard, a surface water-board that involves the surfer skimming over a body of water.
