Yesterday Kelly Slater became the first pro surfer to confirm while still on tour that the sport had a recreational drug problem. A “rampant†one, he told the Gold Coast Bulletin.
The sport has had no shortage of former pros saying the same thing, most recently Gary Elkerton, who admitted in his autobiography that he almost died of an overdose himself in 1985.
