Surfers are reacting strongly to a call for a surf ban at South Steyne in Manly Beach. Clontarf swimmer Max Thomson has proposed to make the southernmost part of South Steyne available to swimmers only – even before and after the lifeguard patrol flags are up each day. Thomson made the calls in The Manly Daily newspaper after his wife was hit by a surfboard on Monday morning.
