Evan Turpen used to spend hours racing on trails. But these days, China Peak’s 26-year-old mountain bike park manager spends most of his time building them. The Santa Cruz area native spoke with The Bee’s Marek Warszawski in advance of this weekend’s races.

Question: How did you get started with mountain biking?
