Despite the literal meaning of Grimstad — ‘sour town’ — its roughly 20,000 permanent residents are widely known for their genuine happiness. Probably because of the region’s good weather and the picturesque landscape surrounding the archipelago that stretches 500km from Oslo to the southern tip of Norway.
