The opening round of the 2012 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series in Chula Vista, Calif. saw the best elite BMX riders in the world battle it in the birthplace of BMX with three Americans starting this Olympic season with a podium finish. Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./Chase BMX) was on fire all weekend and claimed victory in the elite men’s main with David Herman (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Free Agent-Rockstar) also bring home the bronze for the U.S. Amanda Geving (Largo, Fla./MCS Bicycles) made her first-ever world cup podium appearance finishing third, just behind a pair of powerful Frenchwomen.

Over 40 amateur BMX national titles were also awarded and the ribbon cut on the new, London-replica track on this action-packed BMX day in southern California   …  More
