The Ritz-Carlton resort in Dana Point kicked off its “giving season” Saturday with the second annual Surfing Santa Contest, with competitors in six divisions dressing up like St. Nick and surfing Salt Creek Beach for cash and prizes.

Saturday also opened the fourth annual Holiday Surfboard Auction, with boards from surfing stars, celebrities and artists for show and sale through Dec. 31   …  Pictures and more
