Professor Isaiah Helekunihi Walker hopes to enlighten locals and visitors with his book “Waves of Resistance: Surfing and History in Twentieth Century Hawaii.” Released this summer, the seven-chapter-read is the first piece of literature about the history of modern surfing written from a true Hawaiian perspective.
