This week the 9th out of 11 stops on the ASP tour wrapped up in Portugal with Kelly Slater taking second place. In true Kelly style, Slater has been picking the waves he needs to win heats. The level of surfing matched with the excellent conditions on this years tour have left wave selection as the determining factor in many heats this year. Kelly has admittedly made a few mistakes but despite those mistakes he stands poised to claim his unprecidented 11th World Title if he finishes 9th or better at the upcoming Rip Curl Search San Francisco this November.
