The United States was again the most medal winning nation on day two of competition at the 2011 UCI BMX World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark. Riders age 15 and up competed for gold in nine different challenge classes with the USA coming away with four world titles.

American riders Sean Gaian (Santee, Calif.), Felicia Stancil (Lake Villa, Ill.), Stephen Larralde (Riverside, Calif.) and Matt Pohlkamp (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored the four American medals, all in the form of gold, in the older junior and masters categories on Thursday. Those four combined with yesterday’s seven-gold medal performances bring the U.S. total to 11; more than any other nation.

Stancil secured her eighth world title at only age 16 dominating that division on the women’s side. Shayona Glynn (Norco, Calif.) just missed sharing the podium with the Illinois superstar, finishing sixth. In the 15 year-old boys division Sean Gaian (Santee, Calif.) edged Denmark’s Chris Tetche Christensen to earn his rainbow stripes.
