Skateboard trucks, just like skateboard wheels and decks, have undergone significant design changes over the years. In the 1950s and 1960s skateboard trucks were actually part of roller skate assemblies. Unfortunately, the roller skate assemblies did not afford skateboarders much in the way of turning radius, stability, control and speed. Thankfully, that all changed. Today skateboarders have a variety of manufacturers to choose from such as Tensor, Independent, Fury and Krux. Let’s take a quick look back to see how the skateboard truck industry began.
