Voyage covered 300 miles in tribute to cancer victim friend

A kayaker braved the elements to paddle more than 300 miles up the west coast of Scotland in memory of a Stornoway friend who died of cancer.

Kayaking coach Bruce Jolliffe, 36, battled snow, sleet, heavy winds and tidal waves as he made his way from his home town of Largs, Ayrshire, to Stornoway in his 17ft sea kayak.
