A BMX bicycle rider who broke 20 bones after colliding with a car has been handed a £240 bill to cover the cost of closing the road after the accident.

Martin Lloyd, 20, was in an induced coma for eight days after his bike collided with a car on the busy dual carriageway in St Helens, Merseyside.

St Helens Council sent the bill and has threatened legal action if he fails to pay.
