As one of the most dominant racers in the supercross history, it might not seem like such a big deal that San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart pulled off the win last Saturday night in Phoenix, Arizona. But it was. No matter how dominant a racer is, every racer knows they can’t be the fastest in the world forever, so when someone is out for a while, as Stewart was, it’s sometimes easy for them to wonder if they still have it in them, because you can’t tell until the gate drops.
Well, Stewart still has it in him, leading every lap of the Phoenix main event on his way to his first win in a year and a tussle at the top of the points leaderboard with Ryan Villopoto. Then, after the race, he stood up on a jump near the podium and discussed the race and the track in detail with his dad, James Sr.
