Katie Compton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Planet Bike) won her fourth UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup of the season on Sunday in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium; helping her hold off Dutchwoman Sanne Van Paassen for the overall world cup lead. Two U23 American men also finished inside the top 20.
Compton, just off a victory in the world cup’s fifth round in Kalmthout on Dec. 19, finished nearly a minute ahead of reigning world champion Marianne Vos (Netherlands/Nederland Bloeit) and Van Paassen. With earlier World Cup victories in Aigle, Switzerland, in October and Koksijde, Belgium, in November, Compton holds the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup elite women’s division lead.
