Round three of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup presented by Swatch got underway on Friday as the best BMX racers from 21 nations converged on the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. 2008 Olympic Champion and current World Cup leader Maris Strombergs (LAT) was the fastest man on day one of the Southern California event with a time of 34.689 compared to the 34.706 and 35.195 posted by Americans Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev.) and Corben Sharrah (Tucson, Ariz.) who qualified in second and third.
