In the past, girls were considered to be Tom Boys if they took part in skateboarding. However, this particular sport has taken on a new light with girls, especially those from about 10 to 14 years of age. The fact that society is now more accepting of girls taking part in such activities certainly helps. Many families have several boys too which means their sisters have grown up around skateboarding and often find it to be interesting.
