“Swim from the Farallon Islands to San Francisco?  Foolish, simply foolish,” may be the first response from people when they hear of people swimming from the Farallon Islands. But on a clear starry night in August of 1967 a Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Evans jumped into the calm 56°F waters and began his swim from the Farallon Islands towards the California shoreline, 20 miles away.
