PRESS RELEASE

Ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro will be playing in Laguna Beach on Friday April 10th. The concert will be in the high-tech multi-media setting of Seven Degrees located at 891 Laguna Canyon Road. Show time is 8:00 pm and doors open to the general public at 6:30 p.m. General admission is $35. VIP tickets, which include dinner, drinks and premiere seating, are available for $75. Proceeds from the concert go to the SurfAid International, Rell Sunn Foundation, San Onofre Foundation, Surfing Heritage Foundation, and San Onofre Hawaiian Club.

Jake Shimabukuro (shee-ma-BOO-koo-row) is fast becoming recognized as one of the world’s top ukulele musicians. His virtuosity on the four-stringed instrument defies label or category. Playing jazz, blues, funk, classical, bluegrass, folk, flamenco, and rock, Jake’s mission is to show everyone that the instrument is capable of so much more than the Hawaiian music usually associated with it. Jake has played and recorded with a treasure trove of other musicians including Jimmy Buffet, Diana Krall, Fiona Apple, Bobby McFerrin, and Ziggy Marley, just to name a few. He has also appeared on The Late Show with Conan O’Brien.

Also on the bill for the evening is surf comedian Patrick Hanifin, whose hilarious tales of surfing the coast will be appreciated by the ocean-loving crowd. A silent auction will be held featuring artwork and photography donated by some of the most creative talents in the surf industry. Pieces by Jeff Divine, Phil Roberts, Tyler Warren, Jay Adler, Forever Stoked and French surf artist Celine Chat will be on hand for guests to appreciate and bid on.

The event producer Cinema Paradisio is thankful to the sponsors of the evening, which include: Smart Water, Glaceu, Karl Strauss Brewery, Barefoot Wines, Red Bull, Surfer Magazine, Surfline.com and Wahoo’s Fish Tacos.

Tickets maybe purchased on line at www.rellsunn.com or for more information on tickets, call (949) 388-1966 or email cinemaparadisio@live.com
