Although he’d never admit to such a thing, Greg Long staked his claim as the best big-wave surfer in the world today, winning the prestigious Eddie Aikau contest at Waimea Bay to go with his Maverick’s title two winters ago. That was the most recent contest held at Maverick’s, so in effect, Long is holding both trophies — a feat unprecedented in the sport.
